As the Bots and the gang were trying to get a grip on the situation; Optimus sacrificed the MATRIX Spark of Leadership(the knowledge of the primes and Primus) to defeat Unicron. This, in turn, took Optimus' memory of him being a Prime, or ever being enemies with Megatron. This allowed Megatron, to take advantage and make Optimus; or rather Orion Pax to think that he is on the side of the Decepticons. This really bummed them out, knowing that Megatron is telling Optimus horrible lies that would make Optimus fight against them.
